It’s with a heavy heart that one of our amazing Cheyney University team members passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Ms. Tonya Lawrence was the spirt of the dining program and made every customer feel like they were the only person in the room.
Nafeesah Bush, Ms. Tonya’s former Food Service Director said “Ms. T could be serving cereal and milk at the action station and the students would line up as if it was surf and turf. Tonya was always pleasant and smiling, always willing to go above and beyond. She would round up the team for pre-shift everyday, sometimes even lead the meeting. She was the QUEEN OF CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! The dining hall will not be the same without her, she will be forever missed.”
Trinity McLain, current Food Service Director at Cheyney University second that adding “Ms. Tonya made my hard days light and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to know her.” May we keep Ms. T’s spirit alive everyday as we welcome our customers and provide them exceptional service as she did daily.
